Working Children's Rights Awareness Meeting
On Thursday, December 4, 2025, a meeting was held to inform about the rights of laboring children in the hall of Khalishpur No. 7 Ward Office in the organization of the change-opening and in collaboration with the District Social Services Office. The meeting was attended by 7th Ward Secretary Mr. Wahiduzzaman, Citizen Forum President Mr. Nurjahan Lita, local social worker Mr. Mosharraf Hossain and Shireen Parveen on behalf of Manwari-Khulna performed the function of conducting the event. The working children of various occupations adjacent to Ward No. 7 participated in the meeting. At the beginning of the meeting there was an exchange of greetings and at the end of the introduction phase, the working children were thanked and thanked for taking care of the family at this age, fulfilling their responsibilities to the family and continuing their studies. Later, Shirina Parveen read a paper on the rights of laboring children and labor laws. After reading the concept paper some free discussion is done with the children. Later, the Secretary of Ward No. 7 addressed the children. He said children below 12 years of age are prohibited from working in hazardous occupations. A local social worker Mr. Mosharraf Hussain was tasked to sensitize the parents about the rights of working children and those among them who do not go to school. Later, social worker Mr. Mosharraf Hossain addressed the children. He said there are many laws on child labour, but we don't obey the laws. Working in workshops, working in tanneries, children dying in many dangerous jobs. But they are not getting any punishment. Parmani-Khulna has worked with working children of Ward No. 7 before and with reputation. They have provided all kinds of support from school dress to the children to go to school. To encourage them, painted cover pages of notebooks with pictures of children and gave them to children so that children do not drop out. We the people of Ward No. 7 applaud their work. Later, Shirin Parveen said that after the awareness meeting on the rights of laboring children, we will hold another awareness meeting with the parents of these laboring children and there we will discuss whether children can be involved in education besides work and prevent them from child labor. He requested everyone to stand by and cooperate in this regard. Later, he expressed his heartfelt love to the children for coming to the meeting and ended the meeting by thanking everyone present.
